As you said, PowerQA is developed from Q2A 1.6.3 as that was better in terms of code. And Q2A 1.7 was basically an improvement from MySQL to MySQLi.

Now, does PowerQA is having database with MySQLi or still its with MySQL?

Nice question. Don't worry. PowerQA was forked from Q2A V1.7.1. I changed construction of V1.7.1 sources. In other words, I removed only unnecessary sources. So, function and processing is V1.7.1.
